A case of technological development in Cuba: The railroad

During most of the nineteenth century, Cuba lived through a process of economic growth in which the introduction and development of the railroad was a key element. The article analyzes the aims of the undertaking, the financial and technical conditions of the installation of the railroad network and its main characteristics, and finally determines the extent of its repercussion on the island economy.
