Abstract

This paper aims to demonstrate the process of institutionalization of the teaching of anatomy, surgery and obstetrics in the University of Habana. The abundant documentation —we were affected by the problem of the shortage of current bibliography— shows the great economic, political and ideological difficulties during the years of the struggle to introduce this type of education, and the problem of the high practical content which brought with it the need for special materials.
