Spanish works on american natural history and medical matters in sixteenth century Italy

Hispanic scientific production on natural history and medical subjects in countries of America was especially well received in the Italian world during the XVI century. Through the study of the publications of these works, the paper tries to establish the general outlines of the diffusion of the works in Italy, its localization, periodicity and rhythm and the groups of scientists, publishers and translators who inspired this process. It may be affirmed that the presence of this Spanish scientific production was important, remained constant throughout the century and underwent a gradual specialization, from the first information on the New World to the beginning of the assimilation of new medical questions, basically and literary world stood out as the most important centre of dissemination of this Spanish contribution to science.
