In the present article is commented some aspects of the history of botanical classification, focusing during the transition from the so called artificial systems to natural methods, personified by Linneo and Michel Adanson. Such transition was not clear or sharp defined, intermingling in some author as much the theorical principles as the formal ones, which it is exemplified by the classification made by the Spanish botanists Francisco Noroña and Antonio José Cavanilles.
