The author carries out a quick journey through the Spanish science of the XXth century, with a special reference to the political and institutional process. The author focuses the paper on the institutions in charge of promoting, managing and financing the investigations. He focuses it as well on the different policies that originated from those institutes, including a critical evaluation of the principal problems of the science in today's Spain.
