In this work we analyze the book Obras de Albeyteria by Martin Arredondo, probably the most important «veterinarian» in Spain in the 17th century and a manificent example of Galen’s medical applied to animals. The book is unbalanced in many aspects: classic and modern authors are quoted, philosophers, historians, physicians, veterinaians, there are passages of great scientific, philosophical, erudite interest which are explained in an easy or troublesome way, accurately or with out of place digressions, with or without scientific precision. In his work, biology and equine pathology, the history of veterinary and a great amount of cultural aspects of that time they are mixed with fantasies, mythology, superstitions, etc.
