León Sánchez-Quintanar occupied the chair of Surgical Pathology in Valencia for over thirty years. A study of his historico-medical manuscripts. Biblioteca Médica Hispanolusitana y Biblioteca Quirúrgica Hispanolusitana, which are today still unpublished, has shown that they are a contribution of real scientific value to Spanish medical historiography. In 1893, his children bequeathed the medical works in his library to the Faculty of Medicine of Valencia, and these constitute one of the most valuable collections conserved in the Historico-Medical Library and Museum. This work attempts to recover his human and scientific figure, which is practically unknown at the present time.
