The study of the hospital pharmacy of San José de San Fernando and the purchase of drugs and diverse substances which served in the manufacture of different medicines, gives a view of the pharmaceutical practices used in this centre throughout the 18th Century. This sources allow us to fill the vacancy of others, such as clinical histories which were not so common in hospital records of the time. Other therapeutical means are also analysed: Surgery; medical and mineral waters; the influence of geographical factors; different diets and bleedings, an indication of what almost all patients went through.
