Abstract

In this article, the author describes the complex relationship between popular and scientific medicine, and examines the problems of cultural integration, which have their most significant materialization in the doctor-patient relationship. First, the work defines the characteristics of these two medical systems which cohabit the same society. Finally, the author reflects on the Latin American situation where this subject is especially important.
