Abstract

Documented by abundant information from the archives and sources of the time, the authors examine the history of the Radiological Department of the Granada Medical School and ist accomplishments in the field of radiotherapy in the period from 1907 to 1936. The fate of the Department was strongly conditioned by the interest shown by certain leading personalities among the Medical School staff and the material donation made by the eminent citizen Manuel López de la Cámara. The lack of a budget independent of that of the Medical School accounts for the ups and downs in the supply of radiological services. Yet the stable employment situation of the staff attached to the Department was a decisive factor in its good operation.
