Numerous ancient versions of the so called «incantation of the rose», that was applied for the healing of erysipelas are found in bundles of papers which are kept in the Inquisition files of Spain and Portugal. Such an incantation is still being used to the same curative aims if we are to believe the modern traditions prevailing in Spain, Portugal and Latin America. Besides, it is related to healing practices based on the use of roses in connection with the healing of different skin diseases. The compilation and matching of all the above data may lead to very significant conclusions regarding the anthropological bases as well as the evolution and the poetical implications of a chapter of tradicional medicine.
