Abstract

The purpose of this work is to make an approach to the political attitudes of the Spanish scientifical authors at the beginning of the XIX century. The outcome is given of a prosoprographic study involving 483 biographies of cultivators of the Spanish science of that period on the basis of the data offered by several biobibliographic indexes and dossiers mainly proceeding from the documentation kept at the archives of the Ministry of the Interior of José the First. On perusal of this documentation, the site of residence of the scientific authors, their centres of education, their speciality, occupation or profession as well as their political attitudes vis-à-vis the Frenchified government have been the object of consideration and analysis.
