The first Scientific institutions in Brasil created during the colonial period, defended the value of the thought that identified Enlightenment with Science. We would like to point out the roll played in the construction of the Nacional State by the Sociedade Auxiliadora da Industria Nacional, created after the independency, in 1825, although working officially since 1827.
