Abstract

This paper offers the elaboration of a history of exobiology in the light of the works and contributions of the Spanish biochemist Joan Oró Florensa. This approach is intended to demonstrate, on the one hand, the crucial role that Oró had in the research and debates that shaped this scientific discipline, thus covering the gap that exists in this regard, and, on the other, it is intended to give know this story through its concretion in certain plots and certain materials that will cover it perfectly. Exobiology born during the 1960s with the union, hand in hand with National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), of studies on the origin of life and the space age; specifically, it mainly takes shape from the biological research and experiments of the Apollo and Viking missions, in which Oró participated as one of the main actors.
