This article examines the social and political consequences brought on by the emergence of bubonic plague, smallpox, and poliomyelitis in the city of Buenos Aires during the Peronist decade. The different strategies used to limit the political impact of these diseases changed the direction of public health policy and modified the governmental agendas.
