La ciencia en circulación: una reflexión historiográfica

Resumen


El artículo revisa de manera crítica la aproximación dinámica a la ciencia (al conocimiento, en un sentido amplio) de James Secord, en su famoso “Knowledge in Transit” (2004). Se analiza el impacto inicial de la propuesta secordiana en la renovación historiográfica de nuestra disciplina, así como sus limitaciones. Se incide en la necesidad de estudiar esa circulación en espacios y tiempos concretos bien definidos, en una nueva esfera pública –inspirada en el concepto acuñado por Jürgen Habermas (1962)–, con una dimensión política y global. Se pretende así superar viejas inercias del llamado “modelo del déficit”, heredadas del siglo XX, que se dejan sentir todavía hoy en diversos ámbitos académicos y profesionales.
